Pregnant? Need help?
Keep reading! You have options, and we are here to help you determine the best choice for you and your baby.
Don’t Panic. You Have Choices. And We’re Here to Help.
Option 1: Parenting
If you want to speak with someone about parenting, the helpline staff will connect you with the nearest Pregnancy Resource Center. You can find staff that will assist with ultrasounds, parenting programs, and local community resources available in your area. You can also visit the Option Line website for parenting resources and a center near you.
Option 2: Temporary Placement
Temporary Placement provides a short-term solution for parents in need who are not looking to surrender their child. This placement may be with a family member or an agency. For temporary placement options that support children of all ages and help keep families together, please contact the Safe Families Program for more information.
Option 3: Adoption
Consider putting your baby up for adoption. The Colorado Department of Human Services contracts with Raise the Future to answer all questions and help Coloradans with Colorado’s foster or adoption processes.
You can also call the National Safe Haven Alliance Confidential Hotline at 1-888-510-BABY (2229) and speak to a Safe Haven National Councilor who can connect you with an adoption specialist who will answer any questions you may have, discuss the available adoption plans in your area and help you choose the best option that fits your situation.
Option 4: Safe Haven
The National Safe Haven Alliance Crisis Hotline staff can provide Safe Haven surrender locations near you and discuss this option in more detail. Please call or text 1-888-510-2229. Your baby will be placed with a pre-approved adoptive family through the Colorado Department of Human Services.
Check This List After Giving Birth
Giving birth is very hard work and takes a toll on your body. Your health and safety after giving birth are critical. If you have recently given birth, please download the Postpartum Checklist to review the questions identifying if you are experiencing medical problems. Call your doctor immediately if you answer yes to any of the questions. If you do not have a doctor, seek care at an emergency room or call 1-888-510-2229. Tell them that you are in the Safe Haven Program and need help.
Voluntary Baby Medical History Forms
Any information you are willing to share, such as the child’s health, race, date of birth, place of birth, and mother or father’s medical history, could be very useful in caring for the child. Download and fill out the medical forms to bring with you when you drop your baby off. These are not required documents.
