Temporary Placement
Temporary Placement provides a short-term solution for parents in need who are not looking to surrender their child. This placement may be with a family member or an agency. For temporary placement options that support children of all ages and help keep families together, please contact the Safe Families Program for more information.

CO4Kids is a statewide resource that helps connect parents and families in crisis to support services, guidance, and safe options. Whether you need help caring for your child, are considering out-of-home care, or simply don’t know where to turn, CO4Kids offers confidential assistance and connects you to trusted community resources to keep children safe and families supported. Safe Haven
The National Safe Haven Alliance Crisis Hotline staff can help you find Safe Haven surrender locations near you and discuss this option in more detail. Safe Haven is a last-resort safety net designed to prevent the abandonment or harm of newborns, offering parents in crisis a safe, legal, and anonymous choice. Please call or text 1-888-510-2229. Your baby will be placed with a pre-approved adoptive family through the Colorado Department of Human Services.
Check This List After Giving Birth
Giving birth is very hard work and takes a toll on your body. Your health and safety after giving birth are critical. If you have recently given birth, please download the Postpartum Checklist to review the questions identifying if you are experiencing medical problems. Call your doctor immediately if you answer yes to any of the questions. If you do not have a doctor, seek care at an emergency room or call 1-888-510-2229. Tell them that you are in the Safe Haven Program and need help.
Voluntary Baby Medical History Forms
Any information you are willing to share, such as the child’s health, race, date of birth, place of birth, and mother or father’s medical history, could be very useful in caring for the child. Download and fill out the medical forms to bring with you when you drop your baby off. These are not required documents.
